| POHLAD FAMILY FOUNDATION AWARDS SUMMER CAMP SCHOLARSHIP GRANTS
MINNEAPOLIS — March 3, 2005 — The Carl and Eloise Pohlad Family Foundation recently awarded $357,300 for summer camp scholarships to 41 social service and education organizations throughout Minnesota. A complete listing of 2005 grantees is below.
Since 1999, the foundation’s summer camp scholarship program has enabled more than 4,600 Minnesota youth to attend accredited camps of their choice. Employees of grantee organizations selected this year estimate they will send almost 1,400 youth to camp this summer. Employees at grantee organizations identify youth, ages 9 through 15, who would benefit from residential camping experiences, assist youth and their families in the selection and preparation for camp, and award scholarships for camp fees and expenses.
Now in its seventh year, the program has is very popular and very competitive. Selected organizations met all requirements and also planned to collaborate with others, leverage grant funds with cash and non-cash resources to serve more youth and provide supplies, and strengthen their relationships with children and families/caregivers receiving scholarships.
The Carl and Eloise Pohlad Family Foundation is a private family foundation with a mission to improve the lives of economically-disadvantaged families and children and participate in projects that maintain or improve the quality of life in the Minneapolis-St. Paul metropolitan region. The Foundation has awarded more than $33 million in grants since 1995 and has $13 million in net assets.
