The Pohlad Family Foundation began providing large Twin Cities’ arts and cultural institutions with multi-year, general operating support in 2002. Since then, one or two small-to mid-sized organizations were added each year to diversify the list of grantees (additional art disciplines and reaching different audiences.)

The program was created to reflect the Foundation’s understanding of the importance of arts and culture to a community’s quality of life.

Organizations receiving grants share the following qualities: clear mission, high quality artistic reputation, financial stability, strong management practices, capacity to attract large audiences and a good relationship with the community.

Foundation staff is evaluating the program in early 2008 with the fulfillment of grant commitments complete. Future funding will be guided by review recommendations and announced in June.
